The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

When you, UKCM guys (and girls?), go dressed up as a group to the events, do they ask you to pay admission fee?

Although we don't ask for free entry, we have never had to pay to get into events in the UK. We have a pretty good relationship with the UK show organisers.

The saving of money is well appreciated, but avoiding the ticket queue and the changing areas we usually get are at least as valuable.

I feel we're pretty good value for the organisers. If nothing else, loads of people will be having nightmare about the creatures for weeks after the event ... ;)

Sounds fair enough! I would have been surprised if they did ask you to queue for the ticket. (can you imagine the Alien in Q?)
Sorry if the question was silly but I always wondered. I guess the same treatment goes for the guys dressing up as star wars stormtroopers etc?

Yup. The organisers usually give the same perks to all established costuming groups.

They're allowed into the changing area (alas, the changing areas are often not totally secure anyway), but we only request free entry for people dressing up in a relevant costume for a decent part of the day. If you want entry under the UKCM then post up on one of the ready-line/drop threads that you'll be there in Marine etc gear.

No restrictions or problems with anyone hanging out with us at events or after hours, other than under 18s need their parents with them - Xenomorphs are crummy babysitters!

It will be great to meet you both!

Why not get her involved?
It's pretty easy to make up an ad-hoc costume.

Nat and i are both members of the UKG so she is alreatdy in to costuming ( Sam Carter SG1 ) not realy sure what sort of USCM costume she would have though as im more of a fan of the films than she is.

Saying that though hopefully if there is another Alien experiance at the NSC this year she will be involved in that

i was just curious as to wether she could attend drops

Cheers for the Info

Ahh! OK. As Nat will probably tell you, we often just end up making the UKG changing area look messy! ;)

Like I say, the only thing we would require a costume for is getting free entry. That said, some UKCM members got wristbands at Expo wearing BSG and Resident Evil costume - we're not all that fussy even if we do try to stick to Aliens/Predator.

There are other services available, but they usually cost at least a few beers, or a bottle of JD.

Being allowed to watch the 'Two Aliens, One Marine' performance is particularly expensive, but hi-LAR-ious!!!

Didn't you already do that at the NSC?
Oh wait, that was something else in the face, eh!

As another idea - when Claire manages to join us for Drops, she nicks some of my cabbage kit (usually the SafariFlage) and a few bits, borrows a weapon off someone and walks around with us. She's not really into this stuff herself, so it bores her fairly quickly, but she makes do with some basic bits and a few cheap accessories.

She has also done a dirt-cheap Jill Valentine for us once.
Couple of cheap Airsoft holsters, short black skirt (which all women seem to own), blue boob-tube thing (£5 at H&M, I think), boots and borrowed pistol or two. There's a great photo of her yanking Abe's chain

Job done!!

Simple Aliens costumes. Blue boiler suit, white trainers, shoulder torch. Artificial person.
Boots Jeans, check shirt, body warmer. Company stooge.
White lab coat. Company scientist.
M65 trousers and shirt, Marine officer
OD boilersuit, dropship pilot.

Not exactly detailed or screen accurate but good enough for a local drop. Just avoid the rivet counters.
Simples..:)

I have NEVER EVER owned a short black skirt. I don't even have a long black skirt. :P

I asked if she had one and she said, "OF COURSE"... as if it were the silliest question ever... as if every woman is issued with a set of them upon reaching 18 years old, or something!!

I kept quiet after that :D

Woody you missed the silent part of that sentence what she actually said was "OF COURSE I haven't got one but I can soon buy one thats what credit cards are for!"

However all the words in red were only said internally OR alternatively if you're a woman they were said outloud but since the man only ever hears the 10% he wants to hear of what the woman says thats what you heard!

INCOMING! <Ducks for cover>
